I have done one heel's short rows on the Baudelaires, and then discovered, after mom tried it on that it is 1cm too short. I am going to try to fenangle it, and see if I can make it work before I turn the heel.

Dad's scarf is coming along, I'm about halfway through one ball of yarn, and 1 foot into the scarf. Dad likes it. He says it's manly.

Working on Christmas presents this week. No personal knitting projects until these are done.

For mom, I am knitting a pair of Baudelaires in Koigu KPM in color 2100, a bright yellow.

For dad, a right cross cable scarf in Misti Alpaca Chunky in color 410, Natural Brown. The color is much darker than this photo, but this shows the cable the best.

Once these are done, all I will need to knit is a beanie for Librarian Boyfriend. I haven't found a good yarn for that yet, though.

Currently working on Mayumi's Thistle Scarf.

Finished the Doctor Who Season 18 scarf (more correctly, stopped at 8 feet 8 inches long, because the recipient did not want anything too heavy.) It was washed and dried on Wednesday.

I am three repeats of the Thistle Lace pattern in on Mayumi's scarf. It is looking really pretty, especially with the fluffiness of the yarn. (Plymouth Baby Alpaca Brush)

Will be casting on dad's scarf once I figure out what cables to do. The design notebook has a few scribbles, but nothing concrete. Thinking of doing a two cable scarf for him. Need something to show off the Elsebeth Lavold Silky Flamme yarn that I chose.

-Doctor Who Season 18, which is now back to work because fantabulously great MiterSquareCentral sent me some balls of yarn in the dye lot I needed

In the queue:

-Apres Surf Hoodie, Interweave Knits Summer 2008, which will be done in 100% Superwash merino in "Iago and the Green Eyed Monster" hand-dyed by Kitti2323's etsy shop

-Trumpet Skirt from Knitting Lingerie Style by Joan McGowan Michael in Alpaca With a Twist Baby Twist in "fireworks"

-Brown cable scarf for Dad in Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Flamme in color 05 "chestnut"

-socks of some sort for mom, using Koigu KPM solids in color 2100, which is bright yellow

Should I Cast On?

I kept waking up this morning with thoughts of a knit skirt, made out of my Alpaca With A Twist. I kept thinking of if I would have enough yardage, what design to use, but haven't cast on.

The truth is that I am extremely tired of working on scarves and want to do something for me. A skirt seems like a great idea, especially since I have yarn to do it with.

I suppose I will quell the urge by simply doing a gauge swatch. That usually helps me concentrate on getting my project done.

The Doctor Who Scarf is now 50% complete, but I am closing in rapidly on not having enough yarn to complete it. Anyone with the proper yarns and dye lots would be much appreciated.

The yarns and Dye lots are as follows:

-Lion Brand Wool Ease Worsted Weight in color #188 Paprika, lot #34918

-Lion Brand Wool Ease Worsted Weight in color # 138 Cranberry, lot #35574

The Red Heart Soft Yarn is supposedly no dye lot, but mine was labeled L06, so anyone who has this and is willing to send it to me would be much obliged.

Anyone who has these and is willing to part with it, please email me, and we shall see about sending you some yarn in exchange.

In addition to the DWS, I started a scarf for my sister in law, who deserves something pretty. I found a lacy pattern in the IK summer 2006 called "thistle lace" (see article in "yarn reviews" for links) using Plymouth Baby Alpaca Brush in a plum color #1805. Mayumi's favorite color is purple, so I decided that this plum color would be appropriate to offset the harsh Tokyo winters and show my brother that SHE is my favorite. The color in the photo is the closest, even though it doesn't show the fluffy lace pattern very well.
